From NextBigWhat:

Never ask for someone’s ‘opinion.’

If you ever want to ask someone for input on an idea, never ask for their “opinion.” Instead, always ask for their “advice.”

Asking for their opinion puts the other person in an introspective state of mind, which makes them focus more on themselves and less on you.
