Delhi emerges as top city for crypto adoption in India; Jaipur tops tier-II cities list

According to a CoinSwitch report, “Delhi leads India on crypto adoption—measured in terms of value invested—followed by India’s tech hubs of Bangalore and Hyderabad.” The highest rate of cryptocurrency adoption in tier-2 cities was in Jaipur, followed by Lucknow and Pune.


Vedanta to provide 30-50% incentive to employees for EV purchase

The company has committed to decarbonizing all of its light motor vehicles by 2030 as part of its effort to achieve net-zero carbon emissions. Various staff grades would receive incentives for purchasing two- and four-wheeler electric vehicles (EVs). The EV policy will be in place for automobiles purchased starting this month.

Karnataka HC frees Xiaomi’s Rs 3,700 FD attachment

The provisional attachment order issued by the Income Tax Department in relation to the Rs 3,700 crore in fixed deposits held by Xiaomi India has been overturned by the Karnataka High Court. The petitioner Xiaomi had contested the provisional attachment order and argued that the decision was plainly arbitrary and showed premeditation.


Netflix to begin streaming Nike Training Club classes next week

In two distinct batches, Netflix will make available a total of 30 hours of workout sessions. The programmes, which offer exercises for people of various fitness levels, will be accessible in a variety of languages. On December 30, the first round of fitness classes will debut, and the second round will follow in 2023. The initial batch will consist of 45 episodes in total.


FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried extradited to US

SBF is scheduled to arrive in New York and will probably appear before a US judge on Thursday. The disgraced founder showed up in court in Nassau to inform a magistrate judge of his choice after days of confusing signals from SBF and his legal teams. Bankman-Fried gave his permission for extradition to the US during the hearing.


Newspaper The Guardian hit by ransomware attack; online publishing is unaffected

Staff was instructed to work from home as a result of the incident, which started late on Tuesday night and disrupted some of the company’s technical infrastructure. Online publishing is largely unaffected; articles are still written and added to the Guardian website and mobile app. The company expressed confidence that it could still publish Thursday’s print edition.

WhatsApp blocks 3.7 million accounts in November in India

WhatsApp reported that about 10 lakh of the total accounts banned in November were proactively banned, meaning they were removed without user complaints. These statistics were released by WhatsApp in accordance with the new IT Rules 2021, which require major social media and digital platforms with more than 5 million users to publish monthly compliance reports.

The digital economy increased in size from $107.7 billion in 2014 to $222.5 billion in 2019, creating 62.4 million jobs in the process. India’s digital economy increased at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 15.62% between 2014 and 2019, compared to India’s GVA’s annual compound growth rate of 6.59%.


Byju’s denies collecting student phone numbers and threatening parents

The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) summoned the Bengaluru-based startup’s CEO, Byju Raveendran, on Friday. Allegations have been made that the company’s sales team is luring parents into buying Byju’s courses for their children.
